Detroit Barbers
Salon & Barber • Metro Detroit, Oakland County

Project Overview
Sheker Construction completed the commercial build-out for Detroit Barbers, an award-winning barbershop chain with eight Metro Detroit locations. The project delivered a vintage-industrial barbershop interior featuring custom barber stations, exposed brick and shiplap walls, classic barber chairs, and a carefully curated Americana aesthetic — built to handle the demands of a high-volume, multi-chair operation.
The Challenge
The build required plumbing at every barber station for hot lather and shampoo service, heavy-duty electrical for clippers, dryers, and sanitizers across 10+ stations, and an HVAC system capable of maintaining comfort with a full house of barbers and clients. The vintage design concept demanded authentic materials — real brick, reclaimed wood, and period-appropriate fixtures — while meeting modern commercial code requirements.
Our Solution
We installed independent hot and cold water supply with dedicated drains at each barber station, a 200A electrical panel with individual 20A circuits per station, and a high-capacity HVAC system with supplemental exhaust for chemical product ventilation. Interior finishes included selective brick exposure, shiplap accent walls, custom mahogany station cabinetry, period lighting fixtures, and porcelain tile flooring. The storefront received a branded facade and vintage signage treatment.
The Outcome
Detroit Barbers opened on schedule and was recognized as one of Metro Detroit's best barbershops, earning multiple 'Best Of' awards from Hour Detroit and Metro Times. The durable, authentic finishes have held up under heavy daily use, and the functional MEP infrastructure supports seamless operations across all stations. The build quality set the standard for the brand's subsequent location rollouts.
