Lucky Detroit Coffee
Restaurant & Cafe • Metro Detroit, Oakland County

Project Overview
Sheker Construction completed the commercial build-out for Lucky Detroit, a specialty coffee shop and local roaster expanding across Metro Detroit. The project transformed a raw commercial shell into a warm, industrial-chic cafe featuring a custom-fabricated espresso bar, exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, and warm wood millwork — designed to reflect the brand's neighborhood-first identity.
The Challenge
The existing space had no plumbing infrastructure for a commercial espresso operation and required significant electrical upgrades to support multi-group espresso machines, commercial grinders, and a roasting lab. The client needed a design that balanced industrial character with a cozy, approachable atmosphere — all within a tight budget and timeline.
Our Solution
We designed a phased MEP plan that delivered commercial-grade plumbing with grease interceptor, dedicated 200A electrical service, and a custom hood ventilation system for the roasting area. Interior finishes included selective brick exposure and restoration, custom walnut bar millwork, subway tile backsplash, polished concrete sealing, and an industrial pendant lighting package. The storefront received new glazing and signage framing.
The Outcome
Lucky Detroit opened on schedule and quickly became a neighborhood anchor. The warm industrial interior and thoughtful layout support high-volume espresso service while maintaining the intimate cafe atmosphere the brand is known for. The build quality has supported the brand's expansion to additional Metro Detroit locations.
